During Refugee Week, members of the CARE Club and other student volunteers visited the Anglicare Emergency Crisis Centre (The Magdalene Centre). They arrived armed with a generous donation – a staggering 2,000 cans collected from the St Andrew’s School community.
The willingness to help extended beyond the donation. The students delved right in, spending the next hour and a half sorting and boxing a variety of donations, including cans, toys, and clothes, to ensure they were ready for distribution. Witnessing firsthand how their contributions would directly benefit those in need was a truly rewarding experience for our students.
Prior to the visit, each class took part in a unique competition. They channelled their creativity to construct sculptures using the collected cans.
The Can Drive served as a powerful reminder of the impact that collective action can have. We are incredibly proud of our students for their generosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to help those in need.
