The School day begins at 8:40am and concludes at 3:30pm
How many students are enrolled at St Andrew’s School?
We have over 480 students enrolled at the School, including our Early Learning Centre.
Enrolments
If my child turns five in the middle of the year, is it a requirement that they must move to Mid-Year Reception?
Children who turn five between 1 May and 31 October are expected to transition from the Early Learning Centre to a Mid-Year Reception class.
Does the School offer scholarships, and what scholarships are available?
Yes, scholarships are available and are advertised on our website in September each year. Learn more on our Scholarships page.
Do you accept students who are on a Student Visa?
Families on visas are generally accepted at the School, with the exception of a student who is the primary holder of a 500 visa. Students who are the secondary holder of a 500 Student visa will be accepted and charged International fees.
Do you provide application priorities?
Applications for siblings, or children of Old Scholars will be given priority, subject to availability.
When should I consider enrolling at St Andrew’s?
As one of South Australia’s leading schools, we encourage families to apply as early as possible, as the date of the application may be vital when positions are being offered.
Tours
When are School tours held?
School tours are typically held at specific times and dates throughout the term. If you are interested in finding out when our next personal tour is available, please visit our tour booking page.
Who hosts my School tour?
Your personal tour will be hosted by a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Who can I bring on the tour with me? Should I bring my child?
You are welcome to bring whomever you like, including your child on the tour. Our personal tours are intentionally family-friendly, providing a wonderful opportunity for families to explore the School and its surroundings together.
How long do the tours go for?
The duration of our tours typically range from 30 to 45 minutes. This time frame allows us to provide you with a comprehensive overview of the facilities and programs offered at St Andrew’s School.
What will I do on the tour? Who will I meet?
During the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore our school, including classrooms and our specialised facilities. You will also get the chance to learn about our educational and Co-Curricular programs. Your tour will be guided by a member of the Executive Leadership Team who can provide you with valuable information, answer any questions you might have and provide further insights about the School.
Curriculum
What specialist subjects does St Andrew’s offer?
The curriculum at St Andrew’s School includes music, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, visual arts, languages, physical education and much more. More information about our specialist subjects can be found here.
Do all the specialist subjects commence in Reception?
Children in Reception have the opportunity to study Chinese, Art, Music and Sport, all of which are taught by specialist teachers. They will also spend time in the Library with the School Librarian.
What language do children learn at St Andrew’s?
Students at St Andrew’s School learn Chinese Mandarin.
How is religion integrated into the curriculum?
As an Anglican School, we support the ethos of the Anglican Church. This also includes attitudes that align with our IB programme of service to others, global citizens who welcome all faiths, and, participating in Church services and recognising and celebrating specific Christian events such as Christmas and Easter. We also follow a Religious Inquiry Program in our year level groups.
Additionally, we learn about and or recognise religious celebrations of other faiths that our community belongs to, such as Ramadan and Eid.
Why has St Andrew’s chosen IB PYP?
IB PYP students develop knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile to make a positive difference in their own lives, their communities, and beyond. For us, this is important for creating successful, happy children who develop these lifelong dispositions for facing the world as adults, and in the present.
School Life
What Co-Curricular activities do you offer to students outside of their daily curriculum?
St Andrew’s offers over 20 Co-Curricular activities available including Art, Gymnastics, Hindi Club, Tennis Coaching, Chess, Debating. A full list of activities on offer is available in our Co-Curriculum Guide. See our Co-Curricular Activities page for more information.
Is Before and After School Care available at the School?
St Andrew’s School partners with Camp Australia to provide Out of School Hours Care for Reception to Year 6 students.
Early Learning Centre After School Care is provided by the St Andrew’s School Early Learning Centre staff in our Smith Street building. The Centre also provides a Vacation Care Program for Early Learning Centre – Year 2 students.
At this time, St Andrew’s School does not offer Vacation Care for students in Years 3-6, however limited places are available for a range of exciting holiday camps. View our Vacation Care page for more information.
Early Learning Centre
How old does my child need to be to commence in the Early Learning Centre and what are the main requirements?
St Andrew’s is registered to enrol children from the age of three. We expect that all children are toilet trained prior to commencing at the Early Learning Centre as there are no nappy changing facilities available.
What is the enrolment process for the Early Learning Centre?
Parents complete an online application form available on the School’s website. Upon application, we require a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunisation records, and any relevant learning assessments and visa information.
When a position becomes available, families will be invited to attend a Student Profile meeting and will receive a Letter of Offer and Enrolment Contract.
Upon offer, a non-refundable Confirmation Fee is payable to secure your child’s place.
All students will attend an Orientation morning in their allocated classroom, in the term prior to commencement.
What are the minimum days for attendance in the Early Learning Centre?
The minimum booked attendance is three days per week.
Do you offer the Government Child Rebates for the Early Learning Centre?
Our Early Learning Centre is an approved provider of childcare, and so eligible parents can claim the CCS. Families will be asked to provide details at the time of enrolment.
If eligible, the CCS will apply to the Early Learning Centre Daily Fee, After School Care and Vacation Care.
Is there a School uniform for the Early Learning Centre?
All Early Learning Centre students are required to wear the St Andrew’s School uniform. A second-hand and new uniform shop is located on campus.
What curriculum does the Early Learning Centre offer?
The Early Learning Centre is guided by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years programme. Children also enjoy specialist lessons with our Music and Art teachers.
Is it an expectation that if my child attends the Early Learning Centre that they will continue to Reception?
It is not a requirement for children in the Early Learning Centre to continue onto Reception at St Andrew’s. However, a significant number of children choose to transition into either our Reception or Mid-Year Reception classes.
Do I need to reapply for a position for my child to commence in Reception if they already attend the Early Learning Centre?
When applying for enrolment at St Andrew’s School, we only require one application per student. If your child is commencing in the Early Learning Centre, you do not need to reapply for Reception.
