The magic of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory unfolded on our very own stage recently, as St Andrew’s School’s Music Theatre Club presented a dazzling production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The New Musical.
The ambitious undertaking, which began with auditions and rehearsals in Term 4 of 2023, culminated in a triumphant week of four outstanding performances during Term 1, 2024.
A talented cast, featuring two main casts, an ensemble, and dedicated vocal and chorus groups, brought the world of Willy Wonka to life on the School Hall stage. The audience was transported to a land of chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, and the Great Glass Elevator, all under the watchful eye of Wonka’s curious Oompa-Loompas.
A huge amount of effort went into this production, both on and off the stage. The cast delivered stellar performances, bringing Charlie, Veruca, Violet, Augustus, and Mike Teavee to life on their delicious adventure. Special thanks go to our dedicated parent helpers for their incredible work on the sets, props, costumes and makeup. The Music Theatre Club Parents and Friends also deserve a round of applause for their tireless efforts with costumes and props. Backstage, we were grateful for the support from old scholars Bonnie, Summer, and Jade. Pre-show, a big thank you to the Parents’ Association for serving a delightful selection of refreshments, sweets, and treats that perfectly complemented the show’s theme!
The success of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a testament to the passion and talent of our Music Theatre Club students. We are incredibly proud of everything they achieved and look forward to seeing what magical productions await us next year!
